The Toronto Maple Leafs have just given an important update on Morgan Rielly's injury status and when he can be expected to return for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Morgan Rielly has been suffering from an undisclosed upper-body injury since the Leafs game against the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday. The injury has kept him on the sidelines and resulted in a mishmash of defensive combinations for Sheldon Keefe's blueline. While the injury is not necessarily major, it has not been revealed when he will return.

Now, Sheldon Keefe has given a massive update on Rielly's status, stating that he has turned the corner and these next two days should be good for the defenseman's health.

"The one thing that's good is once he gets through this day or two here, it's not going to be a lingering situation. It's not an injury that's going to be ongoing. Once he's past it, he's past it. So we just need to give him some time."

Other Leafs defensemen have had to step up in Rielly's absence, which is a great experience ahead of the playoffs.

Guys like Benoit and Lyubushkin have had to take on a larger role with Rielly being out, which has given them some confidence going into the playoffs, having played some bigger minutes with the Leafs and having more responsibilities in his absence.

The Leafs should be using this time to rest their banged-up players, so there is no sense in rushing Rielly back to the lineup, just like there isn't for fellow injured star Mitch Marner. If those two can get back to 100% and fully rested ahead of the playoffs, that will be major for the Leafs' success.
