Leafs finally get some good news regarding William Nylander
With William Nylander suffering from mysterious migraines keeping him from playing, they have finally caught a break which could get him back into the lineup for Saturday's game.
William Nylander's absence has been the main storyline for the Toronto Maple Leafs this post-season. Being such a crucial producer in the playoffs, his absence has been felt every game thus far in the series, especially with the Leafs struggling on the powerplay. With the uniqueness of his injury, there has been no telling when he will be able to return to the lineup for the Leafs.
However, the Leafs have finally caught a break for Nylander, literally. The two extra days of rest for Nylander could be enough to get him back in the lineup. Sheldon Keefe has noted that they are doing everything they can to work with Nylander to get him ready to play, and the extra day is huge for them, according to Luke Fox.
The more time, the better," coach Sheldon Keefe told reporters Thursday, as players on both sides were granted a day of rest.
"We've been working with Willy to give him the time that he needs to be ready to play."
For such a mysterious injury, there is no concrete timeline like there would be for, say, a pulled muscle. But time is the best healer, and the Leafs will certainly take advantage of having the extra day. Even Auston Matthews, who was playing through illness on Wednesday, should benefit from the extra day off.
All eyes will be on the Leafs practice to see if Nylander is back in the lineup taking regular shifts with a line, or if he remains out.
