First off, Mitch Marner's still on the mend from a nasty high ankle sprain. Looks like he's sitting out the next couple of games.
And if that wasn't enough, defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin's feeling under the weather, so he's likely out for tomorrow's game against the Philadelphia Flyers.
Marner's been out of action for the last three games due to a pesky high-ankle sprain. The guy's been a powerhouse this season, racking up 25 goals and 76 points in just 62 games. Despite his absence, the Leafs managed to snag two wins out of three games.
As for Lyubushkin, he put in some solid minutes in Saturday's game against the Hurricanes but missed practice due to illness. Since joining the Leafs from the Anaheim Ducks, he's notched two assists in six games.
With Marner out, Pontus Holmberg will be filling in on the top line alongside Auston Matthews and Tyler Bertuzzi. Plus, there's a chance for Nick Robertson to step up with John Tavares and Matthew Knies due to a hand injury to Calle Järnkrok.
The Leafs aren't taking any chances with their players' health, especially considering the playoffs are looming. And when it comes to high ankle sprains, they're tricky beasts to tackle due to their location and impact on movement.
Injuries and illnesses are part of the game, but it's how the team deals with them that counts. The Leafs will have to dig deep, rely on their bench strength, and push through these setbacks. However, it shouldn't be long until we see Marner and Lyubushkin back in action soon, though. Here's hoping for a speedy and smooth recovery for both of them!
