Leafs reach verbal agreement with Craig Berube according to source
Toronto Maple Leafs were kicked out of the playoffs early yet again, and it was finally time for a change. Today, it's head coach Sheldon Keefe's turn to face the music, as he will let go. Yet it seems like the organization has already found his replacement.
Reports are the Leafs already have their sights set on a new bench boss. According to a source close to the organization, they've even got a verbal agreement in place with their next coach.
Biz, circle back on the Berube to NJ rumours. Berube played junior hockey in a small town where I'm from, he has told all his buddies here he's going to TOR confirmed. Word has been going around town for the last few days.
The source claims they know someone who knows Craig Berube, and apparently, he's the top pick for the job by General Manager Brad Treliving. Yet you never know with these rumors, especially when it's a friend from a friend.
You will see. Leafs are going to give a week or so. But there has already been a verbal agreement. Details and structure of contract are not done yet. I'm being dead serious.
However, Berube did lead the St. Louis Blues to a Stanley Cup win in 2019. Still, some aren't convinced he's the right fit for the Leafs. They want someone tough and no-nonsense behind the bench.
Guess we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out. Yet if this report is on the money, we'll be seeing a new face behind the bench for the Maple Leafs soon.
