The Toronto Maple Leafs are gearing up for a big Stanley Cup Playoff push, but that doesn't mean they've stopped adding pieces for the future to the organization.

On Sunday, the team officially announced yet another signing for the future, landing former Mississauga Steelheads captain Chas Sharpe. Sharpe will join the Toronto Marlies for the remainder of the 2023-24 season on a PTO, with the two-year deal kicking in from 2024-25.

🖊 News: The Toronto Marlies have signed defenceman Chas Sharpe to a two-year AHL contract beginning in the 2024-25 season. He will join the Marlies on a PTO for the remainder of this season. #MarliesLive

At 20-years of age, Sharpe just had his best season in the OHL, notching 19 goals and 53 points in 67 games played, showing steady improvement each year, upping his point total from 28 to 31 to now 53 over his three full seasons.

Sharpe has great size too, and given the Maple Leafs need for size and skill on the blue line, he could be a future NHLer for this team, and combined with the leadership skills he showed at the OHL level, he will certainly be an intriguing player for the fans to watch in the AHL over the next few years.
