Early this morning the NHL world was put into a state of shock as it was announced that Columbus Blue Jackets star JJohnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew Gaudreau
passed away after being struck in a tragic accident.
Since then the hockey world has come together to mourn the loss of the Gaudreau family and the two men who had a profound impact on the hockey community. Earlier today many of the teams around the NHL made statements including the Toronto Maple Leafs via Brad Treliving who was the GM of the Calgary Flames when Johnny Gaudreau was there.
Now just a few hours later Brad Treliving's support for the Gaudreau family has not stopped at just words but instead, he has now taken action as well.
After the tragic announcement of the passing of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, the family started a GoFundMe page. The purpose was to support Matthew Gaudreau's widow Madeline and their family who are expecting a son to be born shortly. Since the GoFundMe was created many big names in the hockey community have donated including now Maple Leafs GM Brad Treliving who gave $1,300.
While this of course is a small gesture at the end of the day it shows just how much Johnny Gaudreau impacted Brad Treliving throughout their time together. If you would like to donate to help the Gaudreau family as well click the link below.
We continue to keep the Gaudreau family in our thoughts as they process and grieve such an unimaginable loss.
