Today less than 24 hours after the tragic passing of Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Gaudreau the Gaudreau family has released a statement regarding the sad news.
The hockey world is still in shock after news broke that Columbus Blue Jackets star Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew Gaudreau passed away after being struck by a drunk driver. In the aftermath of the tragic events, Sean Higgins the driver was arrested.
Now with this tragic moment passing through the hockey world, the Gaudreau family has been on the minds of people throughout the world. Today Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau's Uncle Jim Gaudreau put together a statement on behalf of the family.

In a post on X Jim Gaudreau wrote a statement talking about the family's reaction to the terrible news. He expressed the family's profound sadness but gratitude for everyone's support. They also ask for privacy as they continue to grieve this immense loss.
Last night we lost two husbands, two fathers, two sons, two brothers, two sons and brothers in law, two nephews, two cousins, two family members two teammates, two friends but truly two amazing humans.
We want to let everyone know we are receiving your messages of love and support and we appreciate your continued thoughts and prayers. We ask for your continued
respect and privacy during this very difficult period of grief.

In the coming days, weeks, and months the hockey world will continue to mourn but celebrate the lives of both Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau.
