Maple Leafs likely to land recently departed Flames coach Marc Savard
The Maple Leafs haven't wasted any time adding pieces to Craig Berube's new staff, as they are now likely to land Marc Savard after spending 2023-24 in Calgary.
The Toronto Maple Leafs quickly moved on from Sheldon Keefe after another playoff failure, with Stanley Cup winning Head Coach Craig Berube announced as the new Head Coach. Now, Berube is already plotting to add another piece to his staff, as Marc Savard was officially let go by the Calgary Flames on Wednesday.
This move comes after much speculation that the Maple Leafs were chasing the veteran coach, with all expectations being that he will be announced with the team very soon.
As expected. Marc Savard is leaving the Calgary Flames, ostensibly to join Craig Berube's staff with the Maple Leafs.
This comes off a year in which the Flames ranked 25th in the league on the powerplay, but with the talent that Toronto posses, especially up front with Matthews, Nylander and potentially Mitch Marner, Savard will have much more talent to work with.
He may not have the reputation of Berube, but Savard is regarded as a fantastic coach, and with Stanley Cup aspirations, this is certainly a solid move for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
