Maple Leafs lose Brock Caufield to the Philadelphia Flyers organization
The Toronto Maple Leafs lost a notable prospect today as Brock Caufield, Cole Caufield's brother, reportedly signed with the Reading Royals of the ECHL.
While the team has not made any official announcement yet, AHL reporter Tony Androckitis has revealed that he heard Brock Caufield is signing with the team today. Notably, as Androckitis points out, the Leafs ECHL affiliate Newfoundland Growlers have gone defunct, forcing Caufield to choose a new team.

Caufield was never officially a Leafs prospect, but he was signed by the Toronto Marlies last season. If things worked out, this would have opened the door to him signing a deal with the Leafs, should they have felt he deserved the promotion.
First look at Brock Caufield Cole's brother with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Instead, Caufield spent the entire season in the ECHL, where he put up 12 goals and 32 points in 63 games. This is coming off his final year of NCAA hockey where he recorded 11 goals and 23 points.
The Marlies signed Cole Caufield's older brother Brock a couple weeks ago. He's coming off of his best season in the NCAA having scored 11 goals and 23 points in 36 games with Wisconsin in 2022-23 as a 5th year senior.
Here's his goals and notable points from this past campaign.
Given that Brock is already 25 years old, his path to the NHL is very slim at best. He will just have to live vicariously through his younger brother, who figures to be a mainstay in the Canadiens lineup for years to come.
