Maple Leafs official lineup revealed for game 1 vs the Bruins
It has all come to this for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Game one of the playoffs against a familiar opponent in the Boston Bruins. Now the lineups have been set and all that is left is for the referee to drop the puck for the opening faceoff.
There was some doubt as to what Sheldon Keefe's lineup would look like, especially after William Nylander and Bobby McMann missed the last team practice. NHL insider Chris Johnston reported earlier today that the Leafs superstar is not dealing with a lingering injury, but rather he tweaked something while he was sleeping Wednesday night.
It remains to be seen if William Nylander will be able to get himself to a spot physically where he can suit up for Game 1 in Boston tonight. This isn't an issue he was playing through down the stretch. He woke up Thursday in some discomfort.
Needless to say, Nylander is an extremely important part of this Leafs team. He was a huge part of the team's offense, potting 40 goals and 98 points in the regular season. The team has been extremely secretive about his status leading up to the game, but he did not participate in this morning's skate with his teammates.
Sheldon Keefe, asked what he can say about William Nylander's status for Game 1 tonight: "Nothing."
Leafs reporter Jonas Siegel confirmed that Nylander would not be in the lineup as the Leafs took warmups without him. It was already a tough matchup but without Nylander, the Leafs will have a tough time earning the 1-0 series advantage.
William Nylander is out for Game 1.
It's his first game missed to injury since Nov. 27, 2016.
