The Toronto Maple Leafs revealed their goaltending strategy for next season: a rotating duo with re-signed Joseph Woll and newly acquired Anthony Stolarz.

Given their historically long Stanley Cup drought, it should not come as a surprise that the Toronto Maple Leafs have become one of the most aggressive teams in trading season.
After an impressive performance against the Boston Bruins, the team decided to re-sign their sophomore goaltender Joseph Woll to a 3-year contract.
"Joseph Woll is staying in Toronto!"

Yet, it was not long before Toronto added another goaltender to their lineup. Joining Joseph Woll and Matt Martin would be Anthony Stolarz, who was picked up from the Florida Panthers in free agency just after winning the Stanley Cup.
"Anthony Stolarz has signed a 2-year deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs, per @KevinWeekes 🍁"

Though Stolarz is a more senior player, Woll proved vital in the crease for Toronto. Understandably, the Maple Leafs have decided to use the goaltenders in tandem.
"In Anthony Stolarz, Toronto adds the regular season's 2nd best goaltender by GSAx per game (+0.56) to a tandem with the Playoff leader in GSAx per game (Joseph Woll, +1.09)."

Anthony Stolarz commented on his role with the Toronto Maple Leafs and how it differs as a backup for Sergei Bobrovsky with the Florida Panthers.
He made it clear he is looking for a big role on the team, but will still support his fellow goaltenders regardless of ice time.
"'You want to be the best. And I think going to the best hockey market in the world is a challenge for me.'

New Maple Leaf Anthony Stolarz vows to support Joseph Woll. But the excited, confident backup also spots a chance to snatch more starts."

With two solid goaltenders working in tandem, the Toronto Maple Leafs could be in good hands. However, whether it will be enough to bring Lord Stanley back north, only time can tell.
