While the Maple Leafs have been a solid regular season team under Sheldon Keefe, they just haven't got it done in the post-season, and after a game seven overtime loss on Saturday, changes are coming. Unsurprisingly, it's Keefe that's most likely to lose his job, and while there's changes coming for the lineup, it's behind the bench that will impact their future most.
Now, reports have emerged of a potential target for Toronto, who are looking at former Blues coach Craig Berube, according to The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta.
As a Head Coach, Berube has tallied a 281-190-72 record with St. Louis and Philadelphia, taking the Blues to the playoffs four times in his six seasons as coach, while leading them to a Stanley Cup back in 2019. In January, the veteran said during an interview that it would be an honour to coach this team, so it's clear the feeling is mutual.
There's a long off-season ahead for Toronto, with many changes expected, and with many more coaching candidates to be considered, this could be the summer that defines this organization for years to come.
