Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews torn to shreds by angry Maple Leafs fan
An impressive stat posted on social media was quickly met with the opposite reaction of an angry fan, absolutely destroying Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews.
It was revealed Tuesday on social media platform X by StatMuse Hockey that Matthews and Marner are the only players in the NHL since 2020 who have over 350 takeaways, a statistic that would make any NHL coach very happy.

A fan by the name of Corey Landsberg, had a different opinion regarding this stat, and he absolutely ripped into it on social media with his response.
Fans are fed up of hearing the Leafs talk about "running it back with the core 4", after years and years of playoff misery. It appears the Leafs are sticking by that motto, as there are rumors the team is preparing a huge offer to sign Mitch Marner long-term, essentially locking him in with Matthews and Nylander for many more years.
Leafs fans are not happy with how their team has performed when the games matter most over the last decade, and a lovely takeaway stat isn't going to heal those wounds that are growing to unprecedented levels.
