MLB's Home Run Derby was meant to be a big occasion for the league, but unfortunately, the only thing going viral from the event was the anthem.
All is quiet in the sports world at the moment, and with MLB's Home Run Derby taking center stage, there wasn't a whole lot to talk about beyond that. Unfortunately for the MLB, it wasn't the amazing event that went viral, but instead the dreadful performance of anthem singer and Grammy Winner Ingrid Andress.
The event was all social media was talking about for all the wrong reasons, and now the singer has come clean, giving an unfortunate reason as to why she bombed so hard on the big stage.
»I'm not gonna bulls**t y'all, I was drunk last night. I'm checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night. I apologize to the MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition. I'll let y'all know how rehab is I hear it's super fun.»
- Ingrid Andress
Despite the seemingly positive nature of her post, being drunk at a time like that is no joke, but the singer has now confirmed that she has identified the problem and is aiming to take care of herself. With All-Star weekend set to roll on, baseball will look to distance themselves from the situation as they showcase the best and brightest of their league in a huge matchup of NL vs. AL.
