The Maple Leafs rookie goaltender Joseph Woll is finally gearing up to return in the NHL following a massive injury that forced him to miss more than two months of action.

Last night, he was back on the ice for a game with the Marlies. Brad Treliving decided to send him in the AHL for conditionning purposes. He played against the Laval Rocket, the Montreal Canadiens' affiliate team.

The rivalry between the Leafs and the Habs is well known and it transpired in the game last night.

The Marlies ended up winning 4-1 in what turned out to be an action-packed game.

In the second period, an incident unfolded, where Laval's Xavier Simoneau was pushed on Joseph Woll and remained on top of him for a few seconds in an awkward position.

Fortunately, Woll was fine and he finished the game.

Joseph Woll To Return with the Leafs Soon After Great Performance With the Marlies?

With a great game last night, Woll proved that he's ready to get back with the Leafs.

Despite missing several months, he had an amazing game, tallying a 0.973 SV% and a 1.00 GAA.

"Joseph Woll stops 36 of 37 for the Marlies in his first game back from injury.

It wasn't exactly an easy first game back, as Laval had nine power plays.

He looks ready to play for the Leafs."

If he can bring that level in the NHL, he could easily force Sheldon Keefe's hands to make him the number one for the playoffs.
