After being eliminated from the NHL playoffs in the first round once again, GM Brad Treliving made it clear that important changes will be made to the Leafs roster, and with MItch Marner's rough display, he seemed to be the odd man out. Well, that may not be the case anymore, as a Mitch Marner trade will have to rely on the transparency of the player, who holds a full no movement clause.
The Toronto Native has made it clear that he intends to stay and play for his hometown team. Given his contract situation, the deck is in his favour as he is not forced to opt for a trade, and has all the leverage in dictating where he would like to go.
Is it something the Leafs management are happy about? No, probably not, but again all the cards fall on Mitch Marner and if he wants to stay, he will stay.
