During the first period of the Islanders game, Noel Acciari was lined up to hit Islanders center Brock Nelson in the corner, unfortunately Nelson curled against the boards and Acciari did not ease up, which resulted in Acciari hitting Nelson in the back.
The hit resulted in Nelson leaving the game early.
People can argue all day about who is at fault for this incident, was it Nelson who chose to put himself in a vulnerable position, or was it Acciari who failed to realize that Nelson's back was turned before hitting him.
Both arguments are irrelevant since the Players Safety has made their decision.
The Players Safety has not fined Acciari for the hit, they also did not call Acciari to a hearing for the hit.
This means that the league watched the hit and decided that it did not warrant additional discipline.
This is good news for Leafs fans and Acciari, who has recently suffered a questionable hit from Jesse Puljujarvi, which the Players Safety decided was not worth additional punishment.
As seen on Maple Leafs Daily -
Player Safety has apparently made its decision on Noel Acciari's hit from behind on Brock Nelson
