Auston Matthews chase for 70 goals was a major story this season, but it appears Head Coach Sheldon Keefe wasn't a big fan, with his take being called out.

The Toronto Maple Leafs once again had an incredible regular season led by Auston Matthews, who would ultimately fall one goal short of 70, a feat that has not been achieved by anyone in the NHL since the 1992-93 season. Unfortunately, not everyone sees this as a complete positive, as Sheldon Keefe recently went on record by calling the chase a distraction.

Now, former NHLer turned media personality PK Subban has reacted on social media, revealing that he will share more thoughts going forward on what he believes was a ridiculous take.

TodayI gotta get a few things off my chest 🙋🏿‍♂️

Unsurprisingly, Subban is not alone in his criticism of Keefe's comments, with many in the replies to Subban's post echoing the sentiment of many.

Imagine having fans so invested and excited for a players success, wanting and yearning to witness history in the making, only to be told they were a distraction!
Does he realize these fans are the reason he has a paycheck? Terrible statement!

While some will claim that the Maple Leafs fans and media are a little too invested, supporting a player to success should only ever be seen as a positive, making Keefe's comments even more interesting.
