The reason why the Leafs hired Craig Berube has been revealed
The Toronto Maple Leafs recently hired new head coach Craig Berube and now the reasons for the hire are becoming increasingly clear.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have struggled in the playoffs for the last several seasons. Playing well enough based on skill to get them there but then fold under the pressure once they make it. This to many is a problem of accountability.
With the hiring of Craig Berube, many feel that the hiring was made on the basis of accountability. In the past particularly with his stop in St. Louis Craig Berube has been known as a passionate coach that is willing to hold even the stars accountable.
"They're getting paid lots of money and they're not doing their job. End of story."
St. Louis Blues head coach Craig Berube did not hold back when talking about his disappointment in the team's best players.
He has also shown great passion in other ways getting his players fired up to go win a pivotal game in the Stanley Cup Finals. This passion and ability to motivate while keeping accountability is something the Maple Leafs as an organization have craved.
Craig Berube is officially the next coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
In 2019 he snapped a 52 year championship drought to get the Blues their first cup since joining the league in 1967.
The leafs last title? 1967.
Something poetic about that.
Here he is delivering the greatest pregame speech of all time before game 7 to win the cup. Leafs got themselves a fantastic coach. #stlblues #leafsforever
Now Craig Berube has the challenge to go out and prove that he can motivate the Maple Leafs' young core as well who are now all reaching the veteran stages of their careers. If he can provide that stability and accountability the Toronto Maple Leafs could be looking at a level of success that they have not seen in an incredibly long time.
