On Tuesday's 'Frozen Frenzy', Toronto's scheduled game against the Columbus Blue Jackets wasn't exactly how they planned it. Only being given two hours to get to the arena due to travel issues was an omen of things to come. Toronto looked sluggish and a step behind Columbus and quickly found themselves down 5-0. It's a rough turnaround from Monday's dominance against Tampa Bay.
It must be a full moon, as things just went from bad to worse for Toronto, as forward Max Pacioretty was not on the bench for the start of the third period and has left the game due to a lower-body injury.
It's an unfortunate turn of events for Pacioretty, who was looking to continue his bounce back from being a healthy scratch earlier in the season. Scoring against Tampa last night, it looked like Pacioretty felt like he was finally getting back into the swing of things but lo and behold it was all for naught. It's unknown the extent of the injury and how long it may keep Pacioretty out of the lineup.
Pacioretty was signed this summer to a PTO but translated an impressive preseason into a contract for this year, coming in with something to prove after he had two awful seasons due to an Achilles injury. So far this season he has two goals in four games, nearly equaling his 2022 total and two away from last year.
We will update you when we have more information regarding Pacioretty's injury.
