Ryan McCleary comes to the Toronto Marlies from the Swift Current Broncos of the WHL where he played 56 games and had 36 points. Originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2021 Ryan McCleary went unsigned and became an undrafted free agent.

Ryan McCleary was a recent attendee and standout from the Maple Leafs development camp. He is expected to likely begin his career in the ECHL while working for an opportunity in the NHL.

Glad Ryan McCleary is getting an AHL deal with Toronto. Good frame at 6-foot-3, right-shot D-man, and impressed Leafs staff at development camp.

Expect him to play notable minutes with ECHL Cincinnati

Now the 20-year-old defenseman will look to carve out a career in the professional ranks if all goes well he could see himself making his NHL debut at some point in his professional hockey career.
