A source out there has stated that the Toronto Maple Leafs have found themselves a trade partner in the west as they both have the trade chips they are looking for.

The Leafs are looking for a defenceman and this western conference team may have exactly what they are looking for.

Leafs and Coyotes potential trade partners

Matt Dumba and Josh Brown were reported as names of interest when it comes to the Coyotes defence.

At first it seemed like the Yotes were making a push for the playoffs, but things have gone downhill since the start of the new year, and it appears that GM Bill Armstrong isn't going to back away from selling players on their final year of their contract. The consensus is that the Coyotes would want draft capita in return for either of the defenceman, and a trade proposal was proposed on the Hockey Writters.

TRADE PROPOSAL

Toronto Maple Leafs Receive: Matt Dumba (50% retained) & 2025 Sixth Round Pick (CHI)

Arizona Coyotes Receive 2024 Third Round Pick (NYI), 2025 Sixth Round Pick (TOR) & 25% of Dumba's Cap Hit ($975,000)

Chicago Blackhawks Receive: Conor Timmins & 25% of Dumba's Cap Hit ($975,000)

The Leafs would pay draft picks and defenceman Conor Timmins for the purpose of saving money against the cap. If they want to go for the cheaper route, you can argue a mid round pick will get a deal done regarding the 6,7 defenceman Josh Brown who is an absolute presence on the ice.

No doubt that the Leafs will be active when it comes to adding defenceman at the trade deadline.
