The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed forward Alex Steeves to a one-year, two-way contract extension, the team has announced.

According to the Leafs, the deal, which is for one-year, will be for league minimum at 775k at the NHL level. According to PuckPedia, Steeves will be making $300k in the AHL.

Steeves signed in Toronto in 2021 as an NCAA free agent from the University of Notre Dame after leading the team in points with 32 in 29 games for the Fighting Irish. Steeves made his NHL debut the same year. He has spent the past three seasons in Toronto's system, primarily in the American Hockey League.

The deal now leaves Nicholas Robertson as Toronto's remaining unsigned restricted free agent. Robertson has requested a trade out of Toronto citing a lack of top ice time on a deep Leafs Forward group. No deal has currently been worked out to either re-sign Robertson or move on from the winger, trading off his RFA rights to a suitor.

Steeves, 24, had 27 goals, 30 assists & 57 points in 65 games played in the AHL for the Toronto Marlies, with a one-game stint with the Leafs in 2023-24. Steeves has played in seven career NHL games, recording an assist.
