The Toronto Maple Leafs are banged up heading into the playoffs, and now there's serious question marks surrounding one of their biggest stars.

Heading into the weekend, the Toronto Maple Leafs had health questions over Calle Jarnkrok, Max Domi and Bobby McMann, but on Friday, the team dealt with an even bigger issue, as star forward William Nylander was reportedly absent from practice. When the situation was questioned in Toronto, General Manager Brad Treliving made it clear that there would be no injury updates, while saying that Nylander is a possibility for game one.

Given the injury issues that Mitch Marner, Morgan Rielly and others have dealt with in the past few weeks, it appears as though the Maple Leafs simply can't catch a break, but now can't be a time for excuses with such a talented group. In 11 games in the playoffs a season ago, Nylander had four goals and six assists for 10 points, and given the tough challenge that the Boston Bruins pose, they'll need all of that in 2023-24.

After a few days off, the Maple Leafs Stanley Cup chase begins on Saturday against Boston, so the team will be hoping and praying that one of their biggest stars can be on the ice for a potentially franchise changing series.
