GM Bill Armstrong possibly reveals Utah HC's official team name
The general manager Bill Armstrong possibly revealed Utah Hockey Club's official team name during his press conference at the 2024 NHL Draft.
Yesterday was a memorable first round day for NHL fans. While we didn't see many important trades, organizations added interesting prospects that could have an impact in the NHL in the coming years.
However, a new development concerning Utah HC got fans believing something else could be confirmed soon: the official team name.
Utah HC's owner Ryan Smith decided to let the fans decide on the team name by voting on their website.
In the second round of the survey, the remaining names on the list are: Utah Blizzard, Utah Hockey Club (Utah HC), Utah Mammoth, Utah Outlaws, Utah Venom, and Utah Yeti.
Armstrong, in yesterday's press conference, said that some kids in Utah are voting 25 times a day for the name "Yeti".
Here's what he said about Tij Iginla's selection at the sixth overall rank:
"That's when we knew he was going to be a Utah Yeti, I think. I'm not allowed to pick the name but I think the little kids in Utah vote about 25 times a day, so I think they got it."
Armstrong made big acquisitions yesterday with Tij Iginla and Cole Beaudoin at the 6th and 24th overall picks.
Iginla and Beaudoin could play an important role in the rise of the Utah Yeti.
