The Vegas Golden Knights entered the NHL back in 2017, and just six years later after plenty of incredible moves, they hoisted the Stanley Cup, first raised by the only captain in franchise history, Mark Stone.

An incredible deal

The deal to land Stone back in 2019 will go down as one of the best moves in franchise history, as Vegas sent Oscar Lindberg, Erik Brannstrom and a 2020 second-round pick to Ottawa in exchange for Stone and Tobias Lindberg.

Given that no pieces sent out in the deal have turned into anything in the NHL, this was as one-sided as a trade can get in the NHL, and after three years of leading the team, it finally paid off.

An inspirational captain

Since that point, Stone has battled injury to become one of the best two way players in the entire NHL, tallying 73 goals and 203 points in the 281 games he has played with Vegas.

Perhaps most importantly is the clutch play in the post-season, especially in the Cup clinching game five with a hat-trick to seal this historic run, and even though Vegas have made many other solid moves, this one stands out above the rest.

According to a piece from The Hockey Writers, there were four other trades that stand out above the rest: acquiring Reilly Smith (2017), acquiring Shea Theodore (2017), acquiring Chandler Stephenson (2019) and acquiring Ivan Barbashev (2023), all of which contributed to their magical run this past season.
