Frank Seravalli recently went onto the Oilers Now podcast and dropped some major news about the Vegas Golden Knights and eluded to some potential cheating.
Nolan Patrick missed the entirety of the 2022-23 season with an upper-body injury that had an undisclosed duration.
The Golden Knights struggled with the salary cap for all of last season and by stashing Patrick on the LTIR, they were able to save a valuable $1.2 million against the salary cap.
The Golden Knights also conveniently had Mark Stone get off of the LTIR right when the playoffs began which has become a trend for players to do when they are injured for a bit of time and are expected to come back in March/April.
Nolan Patrick was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers 2nd overall in 2017 and has struggled with staying healthy since being drafted.
As a 17-year-old in the WHL, Patrick put up 102 points and was widely projected as the 1st overall pick until injuries derailed his draft season. However, his upside was still enough to warrant him being selected 2nd overall. As a 19-year-old, he had 30 points in 73 NHL games establishing his top-of-the-league potential.
Since then, he missed two entire seasons and most recently played 25 games with the Golden Knights in 2021-22. He currently is unsigned but could go somewhere that offers him a chance to play with some top players and truly establish himself as a player deserving of a top role in the NHL.
As seen on Blade of Steel - Insider reveals former 2nd overall pick isn't as injured as his former team made people think
