Vegas Golden Knights Targeting Top Offensive Defenseman
The Vegas Golden Knights have the unique cap situation to add big pieces before the deadline. It appears they now have a target.
Golden Knights Targetting Defenseman
With Mark Stone on LTIR until the playoffs, where the salary cap is no longer relevant, the Golden Knights have $8.8-million in accrued cap space.
With the Shea Weber trade this evening, they equally cleared up their off-season cap situation to acquire a long-term piece.
Insiders believe this piece could be St. Louis Blues blueliner Torey Krug.
With the St. Louis Blues looking like real sellers, for the right package, they could let go of offensive dynamo Krug. He would be a great addition to the already offensively-minded corps in Vegas, potentially paired with the defensively responsible Zach Whitecloud.
The Golden Knights have a full defence corps, but when I heard St. Louis would consider moving Torey Krug I wondered if there's any chance this is a fit. Krug's got a history with Bruce Cassidy, and Vegas might like a one-timer option on a middle-of-the-pack power play. Krug's got four years remaining, which complicates things, and a no-trade, but who wouldn't want to play here?
-Elliotte Friedman
Vegas is known to make big moves, and this would fit the bill. The only question is if Kelly McCrimmon can pull it off.
