For most fans and analysts of the NHL, the Washington Capitals had an incredible off-season, acquiring Matt Roy, Andrew Mangiapane, Jakob Chychrun and Pierre-Luc Dubois in an incredible overhaul. The first move of the summer was to acquire PLD via trade, and now it has been revealed just what Alex Ovechkin's reaction to the deal was.
According to GM Brian MacLellan, The Great 8 wasn't exactly overjoyed with the move, or at least that's what he showed, as he responded with a simple thumbs up emoji when asked via text.
It's unclear what his reactions were to the further trades, free agent deals and draft picks were, but at this point, it's safe to say that he hasn't shown much involvement or excitement about the team this summer.
That may all change once training camp begins, but at this point, there's warning signs that Ovechkin may be highly unhappy, and unless the winning begins again, it could mean a messy breakup.
