The Boston Bruins have been dealt two major blows this off-season with the retirement of David Krejci and Patrice Bergeron, and now, it's left a major hole down the middle of their lineup.
With the retirement of two franchise legends, Boston are currently set with Pavel Zacha, Charlie Coyle, Morgan Geekie and Jesper Boquist down the middle, and with some elite talent on the wings, they need better down the middle.
This has now seen Boston linked to the likes of Mark Scheifele and Elias Lindholm this summer, but with a salary cap crunch, it appears that a deal involving any big name center would be a tough one to make.
While Lindholm has been solid for Calgary, many saw the Jets leader as the perfect candidate, but now, according to a report from Ken Wiebe of Sportsnet, the team just aren't in the position to make a deal, making it very unlikely.
With plenty of expected cap space next summer, Wiebe predicts that holding on for another year would be the best move, and while a deadline addition or two would be good for the Bruins, it appears they are content with holding onto their future assets.
