Usually when talking about hockey phenom Connor Bedard, the focus is on his on-ice play. The 17-year old is breaking records left and right, and is the presumed 1st overall pick in the upcoming 2023 NHL Entry Draft. However, Bedard's mother, Melanie Bedard, came out on social media to make a concerning statement regarding the safety of their family.
Crazy Fans Making the Bedards Feel Unsafe
Melanie revealed in an interview recently that the Bedard family has had to deal with unwanted attention as their son has risen to new heights of popularity in recent months.
"There are very often people surrounding our house and waiting outside, then they photograph us as soon as we step outside. One day, someone even came through the back of our property, accessed the yard, and started screaming for Connor. And I would say that all this happens more frequently since the last Junior World Championship."
"Recently, I had to turn off my cell phone for about ten days because I was receiving too many messages. It was uncontrollable! I've never been used to that, you know? And it's now almost impossible to go to the grocery store or the mall with Connor without being recognized."
- Melanie Bedard
Being a passionate fan is one thing, but stalking a players house and invading their privacy is crossing a major line. Fans must remember that Bedard is still a minor, and the privacy of him and his family should be respected at all times.
