Three Players Set to Be Named in 2018 World Juniors Legal Proceedings
With the legal proceedings going ahead for the 2018 Team Canada World Junior investigation, it has been revealed that 3 more players are likely to be named in the proceedings.
Three More Players to Be Named In Team Canada World Juniors Court Proceedings
The long-anticipated and awaited investigation into the 2018 Team Canada World Junior team is finally coming to a head, with 5 players being charged in the case and named publically. Dillon Dube, Cal Foote, Alex Formenton, Carter Hart and Michael McLeod were forced to surrender to the London police and face charges.
However, the original case by the victim alleged that 8 members of the team were involved in the incident. That has led some to believe that 3 more players will be named in the court proceedings to testify as witnesses. Here is what Martin Leclerc of Radio Canada had to say.
«In the lawsuit she filed in the spring of 2022, the alleged victim targeted Hockey Canada, all three Canadian major junior leagues and eight players who had only been identified by the pseudonyms John Doe and their year of birth. Were the three unaccused players spared for lack of evidence or lack of direct participation? Did they try to intervene to stop the alleged attack? If they were indeed present, will some of them be called to testify, by the defence or the prosecutors, to explain what they witness?»
Court Proceedings Will Reveal More Details as Justice is Served
All signs are pointing to that this case will go to trial, which means that a lot of details about the event will be revealed. Elliotte Friedman has also noted that more players are likely to be called to testify, teammates of the accused who currently play in the NHL.
More details to come on this as the case plays out in Court.
