Yesterday, Connor Bedard and Mark Scheifele had a near-fatal collision after Scheifele tripped up Bedard and Bedard's skates got horrifyingly close to Scheifele's neck.
Scheifele was assessed a two-minute tripping penalty on the play and luckily that was the worst thing to come out of the play for him.
Aside from the near tragedy involving Bedard and Scheifele, the two teams played a great game. The scoring was low but both sides played excellent hockey.
Connor Bedard got things started with his 14th goal of the year picking up his own rebound. The craziest part about this goal is how his initial opportunity was a between-the-legs shot and then Bedard had the dexterity to get his stick back and tuck home the rebound.
The Jets were able to respond in the second with a goal from Morgan Barron to tie things up at one apiece.
After a scoreless third period, the game headed to overtime where Connor Bedard decided to call game.
With the win the Blackhawks moved to 11-22-1 and Bedard moved to 15 goals and 32 points on the season. The Blackhawks still remain at last in the Central division but this is a building block win that will help give Bedard and their goaltender some confidence.
