Professional hockey player suspended for a year after horrible slewfoot
Recently one of the top players in the top Mexican professional hockey league Liga Mexicana Elite de Hockey has been banned for a year due to a dangerous slewfoot.
Hockey is not the most popular sport in Mexico but still popular enough to have a professional league. Today it was discovered that one of the top stars in the Liga Mexicana Elite de Hockey Santiago Sierra has been suspended for a year. The suspension comes after he slewfooted opposing player Brandon Mendez.
Santiago Sierra, one of the better players to ever come out of Mexico, has been suspended for one year after delivering a vicious slewfoot to an unsuspecting player without the puck." Puck Empire said.
The video shows Santiago Sierra come up behind Brandon Mendez and take out his leg in a sweeping motion. Brandon Mendez then falls to the ground and lays there in obvious pain.
Now the 36-year-old Santiago Sierra will have to wait an entire year before he can make his return to the league. He had already been retired once in the past couple of years so one has to wonder if this suspension will end his career.
