A Montreal Canadiens Prospect Just Tied Adam Fox For an Impressive Record
The Montreal Canadiens appear to have stuck gold in the late second round of the 2022 NHL draft.
While some very interesting safe names were around at #62, such as high-end two-way Adam Sykora, and dependable offensive defenseman Calle Odelius, the Habs hedged their bets on undersized defender Lane Hutson.
While the average scouting agency had Hutson ranked around 50th due to his size, a small group of scouts had him in their first-round, with one scout even having him ranked 11th overall.
Now, it looks like these scouts were right about Hutson. Only 12 games into his freshman NCAA season, he has tied a record set by top-five league defenseman Adam Fox.
Before tonight's game started, he had already tied Cale Maker's goal plateau as a freshman - with two goals tonight, he has tied Fox.
Tying this record in so few games is insane, and who knows how many goals Hutson will finish the season with.
This kid is special, and hopefully his size won't hold him back from being an NHL superpower.
