Marc Bergevin is not very talkative when it comes to talking about his personal life and it is quite normal when half of the fans for whom you are the best GM in the NHL and for whom the other half, you are the worst ever. In contention for the title of best GM of the circuit in the 2021 regular season, Marc Bergevin finally finished second behind Lou Lamoriello in the poll.
However, it was a message from Marc Bergevin's wife, Brigitte Tétreault, which caught the attention, she who wrote a message full of emotions to congratulate him on all the work done in 2021.
His post got many shares and even more reactions. It's a safe bet that this post will go viral in a few hours.
During the offseason, Marc Bergevin acquired Joel Edmundson, Jake Allen and Josh Anderson. The latter was acquired in a transaction where he sold Max Domi to the Columbus Blue Jackets. He took advantage of the free agent market to sign Corey Perry and Tyler Toffoli, two players who have had a colossal impact in the season and even more in the playoffs.
At the trade deadline, two veteran defenders were sought in Erik Gustafsson and Jon Merrill. After a start that is far from obvious, the two defenders are doing well in the playoffs. Eric Staal was ordinary in the regular season, but he is a transformed player during these 2021 playoffs.
With the exception of his deal at the trade deadline to acquire Travis Zajac and Kyle Palmieri, Lou Lamoriello has clearly not been the most active GM and has offered the best direct improvement to his team through these decisions. We have proof that this is a clique of general managers.
