In Game 5 against the Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Islanders head coach Barry Trotz didn't like what he saw from Mathew Barzal. The star forward lost his cool and hit Lightning defenseman Jan Rutta in the face, resulting in his ejection. Now he'll almost certainly be punished, and his head coach is well aware that this will be detrimental to the team.
Trotz, who is always one of the better coaches when it comes to standing up for his players, was quick to express his emotions about the play after the game:
"I am disappointed in his decision there"
Just like we all know, it's ok to make them mad, but you never want anyone to feel disappointed in you. The Lightning went out to rout the Islanders 8-0 and without Barzal in Game 6, the Islanders stand no chance.
