Patrick Kane is still an unrestricted free agent however this something most expected as he had surgery on June 1st.
Kane's Surgery
Kane has been battling through a hip injury for the past couple seasons and has finally gone through with the surgery to fix the issue, he was given a timeline of 3-6 months but he for former Art Ross trophy winner has already been back in the gym.
According to his agent Pat Brisson Kane is willing to wait until he's ready to sign a contract.
"There's no rush," Brisson said. "This is one I'm very comfortable with. I'm very calm. You could offer me a one-year deal or a two-year deal right now at $7 million or so. I don't even know if I want to entertain it, because it's not what he needs. We'll see, at the right time, how he feels, where he's at, and then we'll take it from there."
He added, "There's going to be plenty of teams doing good, plenty of teams doing bad. "There are going to be teams using [long-term injured reserve]. We'll pick where we want to go. I don't think too many teams will turn him down."
Kane's Production
The 34-year-old forward has had a hall of fame career, as he sits 3rd most points by an American-born player in the NHL.
He was traded to the Rangers at the deadline and in 19 games for New York Kane put up 12 points, finishing the year with 57 points.
The most likely outcome for Kane is he signs a one-year league minimum contract with performance bonuses.
