Friday night's matchup between the Anaheim Ducks and the Arizona Coyotes went viral when forward Jay Beagle gave a crosscheck to Ducks young sensation Trevor Zegras.
It later got worse when Zegras' teammate Troy Terry, who is the Ducks' leading scorer, jumped into the fray and grabbed Beagle, who dropped his gloves. The Coyotes led at that point by a score of 5-0.
The saddest part of it all: Terry's face after the fight. Terry never dropped his gloves and Beagle seemed to keep hitting him once he was already on the ice.
After the game, Zegras was not at all happy with the situation and let the reporters know it.
"I think he should be embarrassed. I'm not going to comment any further [...] I'm not going to say his name, and I think the league should step in here... I understand you're going to kick me in the back but you don't kick a guy when he's down. Especially a 32-goal scorer in the NHL - a superstar."
"I think it's embarrassing. I think it's a bad look for the league and for the player who did it, it's humiliating and I think he should be punished." - Trevor Zegras
His comments reached the ears of Beagle's teammate with the Coyotes, Antoine Roussel, who destroyed Zegras by calling him a crybaby on TVA Sports on Monday.
"That's the reaction of a whiny little guy who can't take responsibility. His buddy ate it because of him, he created that."
"When you complain in the media, it means you think you're better than everyone else and you want super star treatment. When you have 17 goals in the NHL, we agree that's not incredible. There are at least 150 guys who have 150 goals. You kick in a garbage can and you have plenty of 17-goal scorers, so in my opinion, you don't get that treatment and that's what he's asking for." - Antoine Roussel
