BREAKING: update on Petry's injury, status moving forward for the playoffs
The Montreal Canadiens received some very good news on Monday, as TSN's Tony Marinaro is reporting that defenceman Jeff Petry will be able to play for the remainder of the playoffs after suffering a hand injury during Sunday night's game.
Petry, 33, suffered the injury after his hand appeared to get caught in a camera hole in the glass. According to Marinaro, it resulted in the last two fingers of Petry's right hand to be dislocated. Though the injury will require surgery in the offseason, a team doctor was able to put the bone back in place meaning he will be able to finish out the postseason.
This is great news for the Canadiens, who rely heavily on Petry. The veteran blueliner played in 55 games this season, scoring 12 goals and 42 points. Though he hasn't been able to produce as much offensively in the playoffs he is still a big part of the reason his team finds themselves up 3-0 in the second round of their best of seven series versus the Winnipeg Jets. They will look to finish up the series later tonight, though whether or not Petry is in the lineup remains to be seen.
