The Chicago Blackhawks are currently embroiled in a major scandal stemming from a lawsuit filed by a former player, who, as of this writing, has not been named in the lawsuit, alleging that the Blackhawks ignored the inappropriate sexual conduct of video coach Brad Aldrich even after it was brought to the attention of Blackhawks management.

The controversy is centered on the Chicago Blackhawks organization, but it has spread beyond the Blackhawks because of how far back these occurrences are believed to have occurred. For example, Marc Bergevin, a former Blackhawks official who went on to become the general manager of the Montreal Canadiens, was a part of the Blackhawks management structure at the time as the team's director of player personnel. Bergevin was asked about the abuse during his media availability on Sunday because of his close ties to the Blackhawks at the time the scandal is believed to have occurred.

When confronted with the difficult topic, Bergevin did not back down in the least, instead responding with a no-nonsense denial of any connection to the supposed meeting where Blackhawks management was allegedly made aware of Aldrich's behavior.

"I was not part of any meeting and I was not part of any decision and I was not aware of what was going on at the time," said Bergevin. "You can go on the record with that."
