Nick Suzuki has been named captain of the Montreal Canadiens and everywhere in the team's fold, people are talking about him in a positive light. Despite being only 23 years old (August 10), it is said that the youngster was ready and mature enough to take on the role and the pressure that comes with the C.

Many good young players have become captains at a young age, including Sidney Crosby, Jonathan Toews, Connor McDavid. In their case, it is undeniable, they were and still are the undisputed leaders of their respective teams. However, there are others like Jack Eichel, for example, for whom it went very wrong.

Brad Marchand had some controversial comments about captains being named at a young age and Nick Suzuki is directly targeted by his comments:

« It's almost unfair to give 20-, 21-, 22-year-olds the title of captain when they have no idea what it's like to be a captain in the NHL. You're setting up young players for failure by doing that."
- Brad Marchand

Marchand's comments are not against the players as such, but more towards the organizations that should, according to him, not appoint such young players as captains.

Reading the comments in the publication, people don't seem to disagree too much.
