Duncan Keith and (on paper, though his playing career is over) Brent Seabrook were both traded over the summer. Seth Jones, Jake McCabe, Tyler Johnson, Marc-Andre Fleury, Caleb Jones, and Jujhar Khaira are among the newcomers.
Jeremy Colliton, who replaced three-time Stanley Cup winner Joel Quenneville, enters his fourth season as coach. But with only one playoff appearance as coach of the Blackhawks, how long can he last in Chicago?
Colliton's job safety is listed as "danger zone" by NBC Sports. See the reasoning below:
Jeremy Colliton, Blackhawks The Blackhawks have only made the playoffs once in the last four years (three with Colliton). In addition to increased expectations, they have a thin roster that doesn't look like a contender. A team that may «disappoint» and change early."
Colliton knows he and his team must improve in the coming season.
It will be better, he said. We made some progress last year, but I don't think you can be in this league unless you want to win playoff series. We want to move forward. And we think the new guys can help us do that."
Colliton expects big things from Bowman's offseason moves.
I'm pleased with what we achieved,' Colliton said. So I have input. Stan wants to know what you think and wants us to evaluate players. Finally, he makes the calls. He has improved in every area we wanted to improve before the offseason."
