The young Habs forward Cole Caufield is not taking his place with the Habs for granted. The Athletic journalist Arpon Basu recently chatted with the youngster about his upcoming season's aspirations.

"I think you owe it to yourself to make your mark again every new season. Everyone is trying to make their mark. With that in mind, I'm focused on getting a position and getting some respect."

"I still have a long way to go, but I want to be a difference-making player. That will happen when I am able to prove myself." - Cole Caufield

Caufield's main obsession right now is consistency. He strives for it every day.

Next season, the number 22 would like to play with his good friend Nick Suzuki. The two CH candidates seem ready to return to work and talk practically every day. Caufield hopes to pair up with veteran Tyler Toffoli, with whom he had success during the CH's Stanley Cup run.

Caufield also told Basu his captain, Shea Weber, is unique. The leader's winning mentality influenced the young man. Caufield admired Weber's habit of checking in with his colleagues via FaceTime or text.

"It's something he doesn't have to do, but he does, and it's pretty special." - Cole Caufield

Caufield scored five points in ten regular season games and 12 points in 20 playoff games. Interesting to see if he can keep up this pace next season and possibly win the Calder Trophy...
