Coyotes Unable to Sell Out 5000-Seat Arena at Their Home Opener (VIDEO)
The Arizona Coyotes have officially played their first game at Arizona State University's Mullett Arena. While the atmosphere, including college cheerleaders in Coyotes gear, and a marching band was quite entertaining and unique, many people watching from home noticed one serious issue.
Despite only having 5000 seats in the arena, there were many that weren't filled. This is incredibly worrying for the franchise that's looking to expand to a stadium edging 20,000.
The one section that was full, however, was the $25 student section.
Here is a video of the rink:
While the views are fantastic, and even the media are very close to the ice, it's impossible to deny how small the arena is.
Hours prior to the game, tickets weren't even close to sold out:
A few hundred unsold seats in a full NHL arena is normal, but hopefully Arizona can fix this issue sooner rather than later.
