P.K. Subban is on the move once more, and the transaction may take place in less than two weeks.
According to Pierre LeBrun, Tom Fitzgerald, the general manager of the New Jersey Devils, has informed Subban that the team will not pursue his services beyond this season. The veteran forward is on the final year of an eight-year, $72 million contract with the Montreal Canadiens, which he signed in 2014.
"I spoke with P.K. yesterday and we discussed the uncertainties and the deadline, as well as the fact that we are not in a position to extend him at this point."
While the Devils would want to deal him before the March 21st trade deadline, we doubt Subban and his expensive $9 million salary, even if kept by half, will generate any interest.
