When asked who will be his starting goaltender for game number 4, Dominique Ducharme did not hesitate. He confirmed that Carey Price will be in net on Monday night to try and outlast the Lightning.
Carey is our man, he will play on Monday," Ducharme quickly replied. If there are any questions, Carey will be in net. It's up to all of us to play better. We have to be better in front of him. The 20 players who will put on the CH jersey on Monday must have a good game. "
Tampa Bay has a 3-0 lead in the series and the CH goaltender has been largely dominated by Vasilevskiy from the start. Price acknowledged that he needs to do much better to hope for a return to the series.
"I can definitely play better. It's not good enough right now. "
The statistics speak for themselves. Since the start of the Finals, he has a 4.39 GAA and a .835 SV%, whereas previously he had Conn Smythe-like stats (a 2.02 GAA and .934 SV%). Beyond the numbers, he was intimidating in front of the net and provoking shooters.
Carey Price will need to get his act together, and soon, to give his team a chance to get back into the series.
