Jonathan Drouin missed the entire Montreal Canadiens' Stanley Cup run, which they lost in five games to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Drouin was doing considerably better, according to GM Marc Bergevin, when he spoke with reporters at the end of the season.

Drouin took an indefinite leave of absence from the Canadiens in late April. Teammates, especially Phillip Danault, a French-speaking player from Quebec, spoke openly about Drouin's concerns, including bullying and mental health.

Drouin's mental health clearly needed a vacation from all the stress he'd been under. Drouin hasn't played since April 21st. He was observed talking to team trainers during the next game's warm-ups and did not return. He has since missed three games with a «non-COVID illness.» He was alone in his motel room for days... Drouin had two goals and 21 assists in 44 games this season. A reporter even challenged him about his lack of goals this year, and he replied with frustration that he had another crucial column on his stat sheet, his 21 assists.

Then, over the offseason, it was reported that Drouin was doing much better and even taking pictures with fans.

Drouin held his annual golf tournament on Tuesday and told RDS' Pierre Houde he was ready to play centre in Montreal next season.
