Felix Seguin Has a Special Request for Marc Bergevin
On February 24, following the dismissal of Claude Julien, Dominique Ducharme was named interim head coach, which often means, in good Quebecois: "He's plugging the hole until we find another one!"
In Ducharme's case, despite a 15-16-7 record, you could feel a group rallying behind their head pilot and then, as the Habs moved forward, you could feel the culture and system take on a different (more effective) shape. In the face of adversity, we saw a team stand together and follow the 48-year-old's "instructions" to the letter.
His courage, his bold decisions, his coaching during a match and his communication now make him a formidable weapon for this team. We had our doubts for a long time, but let's not forget that turning around a team that is down doesn't take 12 seconds! It took a long time, but it paid off as the team is currently fighting in the Stanley Cup finals.
In short, Félix Séguin sent a clear message to Marc Bergevin on the On the Bridge podcast:
"Can we take away the label of interim head coach? It's a little bit boring, with the work he's done, let's be grateful. What I'm hoping is that Marc Bergevin, in his first comments in a press conference, can confirm the fact that Dominique Ducharme will be the head coach of this team for the next few years?"
Patrick Lalime agrees with his teammate:
"What I liked was Dominique Ducharme's approach; we won't let ourselves get down, we'll keep fighting, and then it's the way the players reacted. The opportunity is there to win the Stanley Cup. Yes, it takes three wins in a row, but it's time to get the clichés out.
