Obviously, if he stays healthy, Kent Hughes will have won the jackpot by acquiring Sean Monahan. Not only did he cost the CH nothing, but the Habs GM managed to get a conditional first round pick with him.
Monahan will be out of contract at the end of the season and is the Tricolore's fourth leading scorer with 14 points in 21 games. Unless there's a surprise, he'll be moving on and Hughes could be traded to the Colorado Avalanche again.
Marco D'Amico of Montreal Hockey Now even put a price tag on him.
"If Monahan maintains his good numbers (and good advanced stats), he could obviously be the piece needed to allow Kent Hughes to acquire a third first-round pick in 2023."
Would you do it?
To Colorado - Sean Monahan
To Montreal - 2023 first round pick
Considering the Avalanche are looking for a centre, this would be a dream offer for the Habs.
